here is the detailed programme of our Contrada's Festa Titolare (Patron Saint's Feast) in honour of Saint Catherine of Siena:

SATURDAY 23 MAY

3.00–6.30 pm Round of greetings to the Protettori (members) living in San Prospero

8.30 pm Veterans' dinner with the Comparsa at the Società di Camporegio in San Domenico

FRIDAY 29 MAY

6.00 pm Presentation of Quaderno dei Malavolti no. 14: “I Santi sottovetro. Le reliquie dell’Oratorio di Santa Caterina nella Contrada del Drago” by Paolo Tognazzi, in the Sala delle Vittorie

7.00 pm Opening and visit of the Sala Grisaldi del Taja, after the recent restoration and enhancement works

SATURDAY 30 MAY

10.00 am Tribute to the deceased contradaioli at the city cemeteries

4.00 pm The young Dragaioli meet at the Voltoni for an afternoon snack

4.15 pm Cart race in Via di Camporegio

5.00 pm Contrada Baptism in Piazza Matteotti

6.00 pm Sack race in Piazza Matteotti

6.30 pm Cerimonia dello Spago (String Ceremony) in the Sala delle Vittorie

7.45 pm Reception of the Signoria at the Arco dei Pontani

8.15 pm Solemn Matins in the Oratory of the Contrada and presentation of the new flags

9.00 pm Food stands open in Via del Paradiso

SUNDAY 31 MAY

8.15 am The comparsa sets off on its round of homage to the Authorities and the other Contrade

11.00 am Holy Mass in memory of the deceased Dragaioli in the Oratory of the Contrada

1.00 pm Lunch of the comparsa at the “Il Rostro” club of the Nobile Contrada dell’Aquila

2.30 pm The comparsa sets off again

3.00 pm Offering of the Candle to Saint Catherine in the Basilica of San Domenico

6.00 pm Meeting in Piazza Duomo

7.00 pm Drawing of lots of the Contrade (estrazione) and return to the Contrada

8.30 pm Closing dinner at the Società di Camporegio in San Domenico

From Monday 1 June to Saturday 6 June, “Serate nel Paradiso dei Voltoni” (Evenings in the Paradise of the Voltoni): dinners and entertainment for members and their families.

To underline the territorial bond between San Prospero and the territory of the Drago, we ask residents to hang out the flag for the whole of Saturday 23 May, so that it will also be a clear landmark for the comparsa. The flag should then be displayed again on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May, during the round of the city.
